The City of Hawthorne is located approximately 15 miles east of Gainesville in North Central Florida, at the crossroads of State Road 20 and US Highway 301. There are approximately 400 bodies of water within ten miles making the area of a hub of recreation. This quaint city of about 1,500 residents supports a business population base of over 20,000, and is located in Alachua county, population 250,000.  Quality of life is excellent with close proximity to the University of Florida, three community colleges, and major hospitals.

City Commission Meetings
 

Regular Commission Meetings are generally held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 P.M. in Commission Chambers, usually with a pre-meeting workshop at 5:30 PM.  Agenda packets for Commission meetings are available for review City Hall or at the Library.
