1.  Mr. Gilbert Randall- ASO was very interactive in a positive manner with the Hawthorne Community during the Hawthorne Homecoming and want the City to thank them for the great service they provided all 3 days.

2.  Swearing in Ceremony of City Commissioners (Oath of Office)
City Attorney Hoehn swore in Commissioners Bouie and Roberts-Cheatham back into office for another two year term.

3.  Nomination of Mayor
City Attorney Hoehn opened the floor for nominations for Mayor.
Commissioner Roberts-Cheatham nominated Mayor Matthew Surrency for Mayor for another year.
Mayor Surrency accepted the nomination.

4.  Nomination of Vice Mayor
City Attorney Hoehn opened the floor for nominations for Vice Mayor.
Commissioner Bouie nominated Vice Mayor Howard for Vice Mayor for another year.
Vice Mayor Howard accepted the nomination.

5.  Release of City Code Enforcement Liens
City Attorney Hoehn- In an effort to clean up City Code cases, city staff has found these 3 cases were corrected; however staff does not know when the corrections occurred.  At their June 28, 2016, the Code Board recommended the City release the liens.
Moved to authorize the City Attorney or City Clerk to file and record a release of lien on all 3 cases.

6.  Dock Repairs
City Manager Vause- Estimates the repairs for the Lindsey Phillips Dock to be no more than $3K.  
Moved to approve the repairs and the cost not to exceed $3K.

7.  School Zone Sign Replacement
City Manager Vause- The City of Hawthorne is responsible for maintaining the signs.  FDOT will have the signs made and under the traffic signal maintenance contract with the City of Gainesville they will install the signs for a cost not to exceed $3,340.88.
Moved to approve the expenditure of funds to have the replacement sign installed on SR20 school zone.

8.  Resolution- Tampa Armature Works (TAW)
City Manager Vause- There is a $70.00 increase from 2013 on the maintenance agreement for the Blue Tower on SE 65th Avenue.
Moved to authorize the City Manager to sign the new maintenance agreement.

9.  Little Orange Creek Nature Park
City Manager Vause- Staff recommends accepting the Engineering Service Agreement with Mittauer & Associates, Inc. for the public water system and new outdoor electrical system.
Moved to approve staff recommendation to accept the Engineering Service Agreement with Mittauer authorizing the City Manager to sign the agreement.

10. 2005 Ranger Pickup Truck
City Manager Vause- Staff is seeking direction regarding the 2005 Ranger Pickup truck being used by the Public Works Supervisor.  The truck needs about $2300.00 for known repairs and the value of the truck range from $2,500.00 to $5,000.00.
Moved to instruct the City Manager to seek prices for a smaller vehicle at a cheaper price.

  • Amendments to Land Development Regulations Planned Unit Development Amendments
Chris Dougherty- Littlejohn Consultant for City Planner gave the staff recommendations and explained the amendments to the PUD.
The City Attorney read the Ordinance by title only.
Moved to adopt the amendments to the Land Development Regulations Section 4.17 Planned Unit Developments (PUD) on 2nd reading.

Ms. Marion Rucker- the North side of SR 20 and SE 211th St, the red light is out.

1. City Manager gave her City Manager’s Report.
2. City Attorney Hoehn- The paper work for the easements for Loves have been filled with Alachua County.

Commissioner Roberts-Cheatham- Not Present

Commissioner Floyd- Congratulations to Commissioner Bouie and Commissioner Roberts-Cheatham for being re-elected as Commissioners and congratulations to Mayor Surrency and Vice Mayor Howard for being re-elected as the Mayor and Vice Mayor.

Commissioner Bouie- Hawthorne Homecoming was well attended and a great success.

Vice Mayor Howard- Hawthorne Homecoming was a great success and enjoyed seeing everyone.

4. Mayor Surrency- Hawthorne Homecoming was a great success and he enjoyed all the events during homecoming.  Hope for Hawthorne kickball game was well attended as well.  FPL meeting tomorrow at City Hall.
