5.  Resolution- First Baptist Church Easements Purchase
City Manager Vause- Based on the appraisal and review appraisal, the City of Hawthorne has made the First Baptist Church of Hawthorne, Inc. an offer in the amount of $19,500.00 for the purchase of 4 easements across church’s property.
Moved to approve the payment of $19,500.00 for the easements and direct staff to facilitate the closing for the easements.

6.  Resolution- Request waiver of rezoning fees, First Baptist Church Hawthorne
City Manager Vause- The First Baptist Church is requesting a waiver of rezoning fees to rezone a parcel from residential RMF-1 to commercial CG. Rezoning would allow the church to put an off property sign on the lot viewable from US301.
Moved to approve the resolution to waive the rezoning fee of $1500.00

7.  Resolution- Waiver of Fees for associated with Voluntary Annexation
City Attorney Hoehn- Staff recommends adopting the resolution to waive fees associated with petitioning for Voluntary annexation, except for the cost of public notice.  This waiver of fees shall be in effect for one year from the date of adoption of this Resolution.

8.  Resolution- CRA recommendation to approve Littlejohn an S&ME Company for consulting/engineering/architecture services
City Manager Vause- The City of Hawthorne, Florida Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) recommended approval and acceptance of Littlejohn’s bid and the CRA has budgeted money for FY 2015-16 to cover cost of improvements to SE 221 Street/Historic Johnson Street improvements in the amount of $48,400.00.
Moved to accept and approve the bid for $48,400 and authorize the Mayor and City Manager to enter into a contract with Littlejohn and S&ME Company.

  • Amendments to Land Development Regulations Planned Unit Development Amendments Chris Dougherty- Littlejohn Consultant for City Planner summarized what a Planned Unit Development (PUD) is and the amendments to the Land Development Regulations (LDR’s) within the PUD.

H.  DISCUSSION ITEMS
1.  Research on Sign Sizes
City Manager Vause stated staff has looked into different sign ordinances within different cities.  The City Commission agreed to proceed as is on 2nd reading and schedule a workshop to discuss sign sizes.

Mr. Clay Swagger with EDA offered their help when the time was right to tell what other communities have done.
